TFT Champion Pool Size by Cost (Set 18): Copies & Contested Units
How many copies of each champion are in the TFT Set 18 pool? See copies per cost, how opponent boards change your odds, and how pool size differs from shop odds.
Key Strategy Takeaways
- The Set 18 shared pool has 30 copies of each 1-cost, 25 of each 2-cost, 18 of each 3-cost, 10 of each 4-cost, and 9 of each 5-cost.
- Copies on your board, bench, or an opponent board are unavailable to other players until sold or otherwise returned.
- Your level changes the chance of seeing each cost; it does not create more copies of a specific champion.
- These pool values are Set 18 reference data and should be rechecked when Riot changes bag sizes or starts a new set.
How Many Copies of Each Champion Are in TFT?
In Set 18, the lobby shares a limited pool of copies for every champion. Current Set 18 system references list the following base counts per champion:
| Champion cost | Copies of each champion in the shared pool | Copies needed for a 3-star |
|---|---|---|
| 1-cost | 30 | 9 |
| 2-cost | 25 | 9 |
| 3-cost | 18 | 9 |
| 4-cost | 10 | 9 |
| 5-cost | 9 | 9 |
The current Set 18 shop and pool reference and MetaBot roll odds guide list these copy counts. Set rules can change, so recheck the current set if you are reading this after a major update.
How the Shared Champion Pool Works
When a player buys a champion, those copies leave the available pool for everyone. The copies remain unavailable while they are on a board or bench; selling the unit returns them. The pool is shared, so an opponent building the same carry reduces how many copies you can still find.
This matters most when you need several copies of one exact champion. For example, if three copies of a 4-cost are already held by another player, only seven of its ten base copies remain before counting other boards. A contested reroll is not impossible, but it can be much less reliable than the level percentage alone suggests.
Pool Size vs. Shop Odds
These are two different parts of a roll:
- Shop odds set the chance that a slot shows a 1-cost, 2-cost, 3-cost, 4-cost, or 5-cost unit at your level.
- Pool availability affects which specific champions can fill a slot in that cost group.
Leveling up changes the mix of costs in your shop. It does not refill the copies of a champion that opponents already bought. If the carry is contested, moving to a level with better cost odds may still leave fewer copies available than you expected.
Use the Set 18 rolling odds and leveling page to compare the base cost odds by level. Its probability calculator gives an uncontested estimate; it does not read the copies currently held by every player. Combine that estimate with a quick lobby scout before spending down.
When Should You Stop Chasing a Contested Carry?
| What you see | What it means | Practical response |
|---|---|---|
| No opponent has the carry and you already have several copies | Most of that champion's pool is still available | A measured reroll at a useful level can make sense |
| One or more opponents have the same carry at two stars | Several copies are already out of the shared pool | Check whether you are close enough to finish before spending more |
| Two opponents are collecting the same high-cost champion | A large share of the small high-cost pool may be unavailable | Stabilize with alternatives or pivot to units your items can support |
| Your health is low and the next fight is dangerous | A perfect three-star may arrive too late | Roll for immediate board strength, not only the final copy count |
TFT Champion Pool FAQ
Does leveling change how many copies exist?
No. Level changes the cost distribution in your shop. The shared copy count for each champion remains set by the current game rules.
Can two players buy the same champion?
Yes, while copies remain in the pool. Every copy held by either player reduces what is left for the rest of the lobby.
Why do I stop seeing a champion after other players buy it?
The shop draws from the shared pool. Once copies are held by other players, fewer are available for future shops; if the remaining pool is depleted, your shop cannot offer that champion until copies return.
Are these pool sizes permanent?
No. They are the Set 18 values checked on September 24, 2026. Riot can change bag sizes between sets or through a balance update.
